White metal bed – Painting a metal bed provides a cost-effective way to change the appearance of a piece of furniture without buying a brand new item. While the use of spray paint enables a faster application process, the vapors may prove difficult for those with lung sensitivity or breathing difficulties. Applying the paint through a brush requires more work but allows a person to paint the bed inside their home and at their own speed.
Remove the mattress and white metal bed and set them aside. Remove the bed and place any screws in a seal able bag for safe storage. Divide the screws among a few bags and then mark, if necessary. Move the bed frame outdoors for better ventilation when painting; otherwise, prepare a space in the room to do the job. Put down a drop of cloth for where the painting will take place.
Create a separate area to sand the metal bed frame so little dust will lay in the target area. Use magazines instead of a drop suit for easier cleaning. Remove chipping paint and / or rust from the frame with fine sandpaper or a metal brush. Scuff up the entire frame to help the primer perform better. Rub a cloth over a piece of the frame at a time to remove dust. Run a damp cloth over the piece to get rid of debris. Apply the primer to the white metal bed frame with a brush while lying on the dropper or when it is stuck to the saw horse. Use a rust-proof primer to extend the life of your bed frame.
