Unlike most other beds, a king metal platform bed frame needs a central support rail or the bed will warp. Although it may confuse the first time you try to put together a typical metal bed structure, it is simpler than it seems. Railbed frames assemble using the same general methods.

Mark the footprint of your bed, using a tape measure, where you will place the bed. Standard King Size measures 76 x 80 inches; A king of California measures 72 inches 84 inches. Place the center support rail in the center of the bed, parallel to the side rails. Adjust the side and center rails so that the holes at the ends overlap and match. Different models have different positions for this. For example, some models use a hole, while others overlap more and use two holes. Insert one screw, head up, through each hole until even. Place a nut on each screw. Hand tightens to keep them in place. Tighten down each bolt with a screwdriver. Hold the nut in place with your pliers or locking pliers as you tighten the bolt.
